What age are summer camps designed for?
Summer schools tend to accept children from 10-12 years old to 17 years old, but there are quite a few options for younger children as well – from 5-6 years old. Our experts will select a camp that meets your criteria.
How many weeks is it better to send a child to a camp?
All programs are designed for a duration of 2 weeks or more. On average, parents send their children for 4 weeks.
What level of foreign language is required to enroll in the summer program?
If we are talking about a language camp, the level of foreign language proficiency can be any: on the first day, the school will conduct a test and, based on its results, will assign the child to the appropriate group. For an academic camp, the minimum level of English is B2.
If my child has allergies, will the receiving party take into account his nutritional characteristics?
Yes of course. We will select camps for you that will meet this criterion, and we will also be sure to prescribe all the details related to the child's health, so that the host party organizes meals that exclude food products to which the child is allergic.
Who will look after my child during the camp?
Children are supervised by school staff 24/7.
Can you help with payment and transfer of money to the camp?
Yes, of course, we help our clients with international transfers.
Do you help with visas?
Yes, we have a visa support service.
Is it possible to call your child during your stay in the camp?
Of course, every day, during the hours allotted for this, children are free to use phones and call their parents.
How can a child fly alone?
If your child is independent and can cope with the transfer on his own, we will arrange a transfer, and upon arrival, a representative of the school will meet him at the airport. If the child cannot make a transfer on his own, we recommend choosing a group program with SMAPSE accompaniment to the camp and back.
Which program is better to choose?
If the child is independent, you can choose an individual program. For children under 13 years old, we recommend taking a program accompanied by SMAPSE to the camp and back, because during transfers (if necessary) our staff will be with the children.
How to choose a camp if a child is traveling abroad for the first time?
Our experts will help you choose the camp that is best suited for a child going abroad for the first time. We know which schools provide more comfortable adaptation and offer a friendly environment for newcomers. For the first time, we also recommend considering a trip with our escort – this is not only safer, but also significantly reduces stress for the child and parents.
What are the accommodation options for individual participants? Can I choose to live with a family?
Participants in individual programs can live either in a student residence or with a host family.
- Residence: Typically located on school or campus grounds. Here, children live together, communicate more and participate in joint activities.
- Host family: children are usually accommodated in pairs, but it is impossible to choose a specific family in advance - the distribution takes place by the decision of the organizers. This option allows you to immerse yourself deeper in the language environment and get acquainted with the culture of the country.
How can you keep in touch with your child if he does not have an international phone tariff?
We recommend getting an eSIM, which is an electronic SIM card that can be activated directly through the app on your phone. The connection process is very simple, and our managers will help you figure out the setup. Payment is possible with Russian cards. You can also purchase a physical SIM card upon arrival at the airport - the employee meeting the child will help with this issue.
Can parents come to the camp for a few days and visit their child?
Yes, parents can visit their child in the camp, but this must be agreed with the organizers in advance. Usually, it is enough to send an e-mail with the date and time of the visit, as well as the details of the accompanying adult. In most cases, camps meet such requests and allow you to pick up a child for a short time.
If the child is flying in a group, will classes be held only with children from this group?
No, in the camp all children will be divided into different international groups, depending on their age, and for lessons depending on the level of the language. They will also live with children from other countries to practice English.
Does SMAPSE host group summer programs?
All summer programs are conducted by the educational institutions themselves! SMAPSE employees only accompany children to the camp and back, provide support during the stay of children in the camp and stay in touch with parents. The schedule of events and the curriculum are drawn up by the host country.
Is it possible to skip school in the camp?
Without a valid reason, you cannot miss school (a valid reason for missing may be the child's poor health, etc.). Only when attending all lessons, children are guaranteed to receive a certificate of completion. Excursions are also a must.
What is the difference between group and individual trips?
The main difference is that the group trip is accompanied by SMAPSE representatives from start to finish. As well as the presence of our employees on the territory of the camp during the program. Parents will receive a daily photo report in the group chat, and children will always be able to contact our Russian-speaking curators. The package of a group trip also includes visa support.
How is the flight organized for children in a group?
The group departs from Moscow together with our escorts on the same flight. At the airport, we meet parents and children, give them a briefing, organize pre-boarding control and accompany younger children (up to 14 years old) through border control, while the older ones go through it on their own. Upon arrival in the country of study, children are met by a representative of the camp and organizes a transfer to the educational institution. All tickets are booked in advance, and parents receive information about the flight for which a ticket must be purchased.
Who exactly accompanies the group during the trip?
The group is accompanied by our international education specialists – professional, energetic and experienced young people who have previously worked as leadership groups and have repeatedly accompanied children to camps abroad. All escorts are fluent in English, are familiar with the camp programs and are ready to support children at every stage of the trip.
What are the additional costs that may arise during a group trip?
The price of the program already includes everything you need, but children may need pocket money for personal expenses.
This can be:
- Buying souvenirs or things during excursions
- Additional excursions that are not included in the main program (in agreement with parents)
- Personal expenses for cafes, entertainment or transport in your free time
Can I choose a specific camp or accommodation as part of a group trip?
We do not organize group trips to all existing camps, but we carefully select countries and programs so that parents and children have a wide choice. Our specialists will be happy to send you a brochure with available options, tell you in detail about each program and help you choose the best option.
How is medical care provided in the camp?
In each camp, medical personnel are always present, most often a nurse, as well as employees trained in first aid. In addition, there are always first aid kits with the necessary supplies in the camp. In case of more serious injuries or illnesses, our companions will help arrange a visit to the medical facility, explain the situation to the staff and stay with the child for as long as necessary.
Is it possible to extend my stay in the camp after the end of the group program?
Technically, this is possible, but it is better to solve this issue in advance, as places in the camp may run out. It is important to take into account that in this case the child will return home on his own, unaccompanied by a group, since the main participants of the trip leave on the set date. If you are considering this option, please let us know in advance and we will help you arrange a safe flight back.
